FY 2017 Immigrant Justice Legal Services Grant (IJLS) Pre Bidders Meeting Questions and Answers (Q&A)
The Executive Office of the Mayor, through the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA), the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA), and the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs (MOAA), is soliciting grant applications from qualified private organizations, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and partnerships serving the District of Columbia’s population for its FY 2017 Immigrant Justice Legal Services Grant Program (IJLS). The grant program will make a total of $500,000 available to fund programs that provide targeted services and resources to the DC immigrant population and their family members. The FY 2017 Immigrant Justice Legal Services Grant Program will award one-time grants of up to $150,000 to organizations with a current and valid 501(c)(3) status as well as private organizations, associations and law firms that plan to mobilize pro bono services in order to provide immigration legal services.
Program Scope:
The grant is intended to fund programs that provide targeted services and resources to the DC immigrant population. The FY 2017 Immigrant Justice Legal Services Grant Program offers one-time grants of up to $150,000 to CBOs with a current and valid 501(c)(3) status as well as private organizations, associations and law firms that plan to mobilize pro bono talent in order to provide immigration legal services.
Funding priority areas identified for IJLS FY17 are aligned with Mayor Muriel Bowser’s administration priorities:
- Public Safety, and
- Civic Engagement

The RFA will be posted on the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs website (apia.dc.gov), the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs website (www.ola.dc.gov); the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs website (oaa.dc.gov); the Mayor’s Office on Community Affairs (moca.dc.gov); and the District’s Grant Clearinghouse website.
Amount of Awards:
A total of $500,000 will be made available; each applicant can apply for grants up to $150,000.
