District of Columbia Announces Awardees of FY 2025 Voting Rights and Statehood Grant

Monday, January 27, 2025

The Office of the Secretary of the District of Columbia proudly announced the recipients of the FY2025 Grant to Promote District of Columbia Voting Rights and Statehood:

  • DC Vote - $60,000
  • Historical Society of Washington DC (DC History Center) - $60,000
  • League of Women Voters Education Fund of Washington, DC - $55,000
  • Long Live Go-Go - $25,000

These organizations have been selected to spearhead advocacy efforts for voting rights and statehood for the District of Columbia. The objective of this grant is to amplify awareness and support for DC statehood through targeted education, outreach, and engagement with elected officials and Americans nationwide, including visitors to our nation’s capital.

For more than a decade, the District has allocated funding to nonprofit organizations dedicated to educating citizens across the country and implementing strategies to underscore the District’s lack of full democratic representation.

The Request for Applications for this grant program was published on November 8, 2024, in the District of Columbia Register.
