DC Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday - January 18, 2010

Each year, the Mayor hosts a celebration of the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the District's citywide observance of the national holiday.

This year the Office of the Secretary of the District of Columbia is proud to partner with Serve DC to present the 2010 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Mayor Fenty asks all residents to celebrate Dr. King's legacy on January 18 by turning community concerns into citizen action.

On MLK Day 2009 over 35,000 volunteers participated in 180 different community service projects across the District. Volunteers included Barack and Michelle Obama and Joe and Jill Biden.

For more information about the official Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, please contact the Office of the Secretary by telephone at (202) 727-6306 or by email.
